Monet's Sunrise

A lovely way to brighten up the start the Picassos in the Park year with a look at Monet's painting Impression, Sunrise that coined the term Impressionism itself. We asked all the children to think about an amazing sunrise they might have seen and to imagine its reflection, the horizon and the colours it created. They all painted an orange wash to give their masterpieces the glow of sunrise before mapping out their compositions. Using the short sharp brushstrokes identifiable with Impressionism they built up their landscapes with impressive results!
